Angusvale is scenically sited at the northern edge of the national park, beside the Mitchell River some 16 km east along the Mitchell Dam Rd from the junction with the Bairnsdale–Dargo Rd. From here you can follow the Mitchell River Walking Track for 18 km to the other end of the park, a hike of around 2 days. Look to the skies for peregrine falcons, swift parrots and other fascinating local birds.

This campsite is located in Mitchell River National Park

Mitchell River National Park is a favourite of canoeists and rafters for its centrepiece network of rocky gorges, complete with rapids. If you’re a hiker who wants to stride out for a few days, hop onto the long track that follows the Mitchell River through the park’s densely forested terrain. You can also confront an ancient Aboriginal story at the Den of Nargun. This national park is 25 km north-west of Bairnsdale via the Bairnsdale–Dargo Rd. Check with Parks Victoria regarding the current status of track closures within the park, often due to weather damage or upgrades.
