Mitchell River National Park
Back to nature
The rugged gorges and lovely rockpools of the Mitchell River are a short (but steep) walk from the main carpark. It’s a spectacular setting for a picnic and a bit of exploring. Kids will be intrigued by the giant kanooka trees which grow out of the water in a tangle of vines and ferns. See if you can spot any satin bowerbirds – or their bowers – in the park. The Den of Nargun that forms part of the Bataluk Cultural Trail is also located here.
