Hicks camping area is in the south of Snowy River National Park, beside the Yalmy River. It’s accessed off Varneys Track, which runs off Yalmy Rd. A 4WD is required to reach this spot, and note that access is seasonal, restricted to dry weather. Keep a lookout for the rare brush-tailed rock wallaby, which occasionally makes an appearance in the area. There are also hiking, horseriding and mountain-biking trails nearby that you can tackle.

This campsite is located in Snowy River National Park

Flanking the iconic Snowy River, and with deep forested gorges, this enormous slice of Victorian wilderness is a breathtaking treat. Canoeing or rafting the Snowy River are highly rewarding experiences, and there are numerous walking tracks to follow. The main access routes run off the Buchan–Jindabyne Rd and the Princes Hwy at Nowa Nowa.
