Slaty Creek picnic and camping area, emjaype

There are actually 3 camping areas spread around Slaty Creek in the south of the park: Number 1, Number 2 and Number 3 camping areas. After you’ve taken a nap under a manna gum and panned for gold in the creek, head up to St Georges Lake to go bird- and platypus-watching, or just to enjoy this placid body of water. The camping areas are accessed via Slaty Creek Rd, which is off Bungaree–Creswick Rd.

This campsite is located in Creswick Regional Park

Besides viewing gold-rush remnants in Creswick Regional Park, such as the stone-and-earth Eaton Dam, you can also scan the trees of Koala Park for dozing marsupials, go mountain-biking down narrow trails, and take the informative self-guided trail around the Landcare Centre and Nursery – just one of many walks in the area. Access is off the Bungaree–Creswick Rd, which leads off the Midland Hwy 18 km north of Ballarat.
