Located at the site of a hut, there is room here for a couple of  caravans or a handful of tents. The cosy hut has been recently refurbished and comes with table and seating. Ben Nevis is near a fire tower which provides great views of the surrounding landscape. The camping area is well-signed off a loop track called Sandys Pinch, which runs off Mt Cole Rd. If you’re towing, keep in mind the access road is pretty rough.

This campsite is located in Mount Cole State Forest

Sizeable Mt Cole State Forest is bordered by Mt Buangor State Park to the west, and cedes some territory in the south to pine plantations. Four-wheel-driving is a popular activity in the thick of the forest, while horseriders also make their way along the local tracks. Some excellent bushwalks round out the area’s attractions. The forest is 25 km north-west of Beaufort. Turn off the Western Hwy towards Raglan, where you pick up the Mt Cole Rd.
