Birdwatchers are very fond of the 5 km Borella Walk that leads north from Chinamans camping area to Ben Nevis, due to the 120-plus species that fly around the forest. This walk has a couple of steep sections, so allow yourself plenty of time to complete it. Crowned with a fire tower, Ben Nevis is also equipped with toilets and picnic tables. Chinamans is accessed from Warrak via Mt Cole Rd.

This campsite is located in Mount Cole State Forest

Sizeable Mt Cole State Forest is bordered by Mt Buangor State Park to the west, and cedes some territory in the south to pine plantations. Four-wheel-driving is a popular activity in the thick of the forest, while horseriders also make their way along the local tracks. Some excellent bushwalks round out the area’s attractions. The forest is 25 km north-west of Beaufort. Turn off the Western Hwy towards Raglan, where you pick up the Mt Cole Rd.
