This winery cafe is an integral part of the cellar door that overlooks the vineyard to Mount Bernard and the start of the Strathbogie Ranges. The seasonally changing menu features local produce such as Avenel mushrooms from the farm down the road, gourmet sausages and smoked ham from the highly acclaimed Avenel butcher, and vegetables from the cafe’s own organic garden. The menu is divided into antipasto (Yarra Valley smoked eel, calamari fritti, local mushrooms, slow-roasted tomatoes and goat’s cheese), charcuterie (local smallgoods, house-made pork rillettes and terrine) and main courses (king prawn salad, eye fillet) – all with matching wine suggestions. If you just want a little something, try the wine flight of three wines to match three small tastes of food.
