Boreang camping area
For those who want to camp right in the middle of the national park, this is the place for you. Nearby are the Balconies, a pair of sandstone shelves that jut out spectacularly from a sheer cliff – the views are dizzying. The Balconies are reached by a 1 km track that weaves through gum tree forest from the carpark at the superb Reed Lookout. To get to Boreang from Halls Gap, head west on Victory Rd and then turn onto Victoria Valley Rd.

This campsite is located in Grampians National Park
The sublime Grampians, also known as Gariwerd, are a series of steep, spectacular sandstone ridges adored by campers and bushwalkers. The region is home to over 800 species of plants – the wildflowers are a kaleidoscopic sight in spring. There are also numerous Aboriginal heritage sites, and stupendous views from places like The Pinnacle. The Henty Hwy and Grampians Rd off the Western Hwy are the main access roads.
The park was extensively damaged following a significant storm in January 2011, resulting in the closure of nany areas, so contact Parks Victoria before planning your trip.
Highlights of the large park include the unusual rock formations at The Balconies, Mackenzie Falls and the views to the east from the summit of Mt William. Sunrise here can be spectacular. There are also many worthwhile bushwalks ranging from easy short strolls to strenuous overnight hikes. Visit the Brambuk National Park and Cultural Centre, at the south end of Halls Gap, to get information about drives, walks and camping.
