Although the original farm is a few hours away at Bannockburn, this produce/wine store and cafe champions regional produce – selling through its retail outlet (it has even spawned outlets interstate) and featuring local fare on its menu. A typical entrée might be crumbed calamari with Greek-style salad using Mount Zero olives, Meredith goat’s feta and Doodles Creek lemon and caper mayonnaise. More substantial dishes might be warm Western District beef salad with roasted marinated vegetables, oven-baked rack of grain-fed lamb with caramelised onion, or crisp-skinned duck breast with braised wild rabbit pie. They stock a huge variety of local wines as well as other Australian and imported ones.
