Off the main street in a former doctor’s two-storey Victorian home, this welcoming wine-bar-cum-cosy-cafe has evolved into a fully fledged restaurant serving terrific tapas and great pizza. Its intimate, homely rooms are furnished with antique leather couches, armchairs and the occasional dining table, with different music playing in each room. There’s also a more formal dining room upstairs for sit-down monthly dinners with a set menu. Order an antipasto platter, a cheese board or a few tapas plates to share: garlic prawns, spicy meatballs, ranchos huevos (baked eggs), salt cod cakes, tuna turnovers and more. Pizza toppings are interesting and the wine list is good, with local wines the heroes.
