Lake Tali Karng camping area (Heyfield region; walk-in camping)

fire prohibited no pets allowed no rubbish disposal non-vehicle camping picnic table with shelter ranger walking

Lake Tali Karng is 15 km south of Arbuckle Junction and is accessed on foot via a 12 km walk down the Wellington Plain Track, which leads off Moroka Rd at MacFarlane Saddle. This gorgeous lake is fed by snowmelt and in turn gives rise to the Wellington River through underground channels. Note that while you can camp here, the lake is a sacred place to local Aboriginal people – as a sign of respect, consider camping elsewhere.
