There is a real mix of diners in this 40-seater restaurant: workers straight from the farm, suits from a business meeting or perhaps a starry-eyed couple out for a romantic evening. But the French-style brasserie takes it all in its stride, offering a selection of smaller entrée dishes that might move around the table before main courses are served. Classics include French onion soup, terrines, eye fillet with Café de Paris butter and pommes frites, coq au vin, beef bourguignon and confit of duck – all beautifully executed. Do factor in their signature soufflé flavoured with whatever’s fresh and in season – peaches, blackberry, passionfruit or perhaps chocolate.
