Pickerings Flat camping area
Pickerings Flat is 400 m east of Davons Flat and 700 m from Noonans Flat. There’s signposted access off Brocks Rd. Fishing and swimming in the Howqua River are some of the recommended activities here. Avoid going off any of the local tracks, as there are some open mineshafts in these hills. Note: there’s a private hut here.

This campsite is located in Howqua Hills Historic Area
Remnants of the goldmining that took place in the Howqua Hills are scattered about the area, including an old water race and a smelting furnace. A particularly poignant historic sight is the former home of bushman Fred Fry, who left his mark in the form of many huts around the region. Horseriders join bushwalkers in exploring this lovely area. Turn onto the signposted Howqua Track from the Mansfield–Mount Buller Rd just east of Merrijig.
