This camping area boasts open, grassy campsites on either side of Brocks Rd, about 2.5 km north of Frys Flat; needless to say, it’s popular with large groups. There’s an information shelter here, along with toilets, picnic tables and wood-fired BBQs. An easy, self-guided walk shadows the Howqua River from here down to Frys Flat.

This campsite is located in Howqua Hills Historic Area

Remnants of the goldmining that took place in the Howqua Hills are scattered about the area, including an old water race and a smelting furnace. A particularly poignant historic sight is the former home of bushman Fred Fry, who left his mark in the form of many huts around the region. Horseriders join bushwalkers in exploring this lovely area. Turn onto the signposted Howqua Track from the Mansfield–Mount Buller Rd just east of Merrijig.
