Peppermint, blue gum and stringybark trees intermingle in this forested area north-east of Jamieson. One appealing characteristic of the campsites here is that they lie beside the Howqua River, but watch out for quickly rising water levels when thunderstorms hit the catchment upstream. Look for signposted access about 10 km down the Howqua River Rd from the Mansfield–Jamieson Rd junction.

This campsite is located in Mansfield State Forest

Stretching roughly between the towns of Mansfield and Jamieson, Mansfield State Forest has trails rough enough to excite those who are fond of a 4WD or of mountain-biking, and access to enough creeks and rivers to satisfy the choosiest angler. Horseriders are also frequent users of the forest tracks.
