It’s possible to camp among the snow gums on the eastern side of Lake Catani. From Lake Catani, cycle or stroll the 2 km track leading to the Gorge, where there are some sublime views of distant mountains. The campground is open Nov–Apr only; bookings via website essential from 1 Sept.

Due to its elevation, nights can be cool here even in the warmer months. Camping here is quite pleasant nonetheless, with brightly coloured crimson rosellas being common visitors to many camps. And if you have a canoe or kayak you can take it for a paddle on Lake Catani. The nearby Monolith Track, accessible from The Gorge Lake Catani Trail, offers fantastic views over the lake and surrounding forests.
