This is one of a pair of camping areas just off Rubicon Rd, to the north of the power station. Directly east of here are Snobs Falls, a fetching 100 m cascade over tumbledown rocks. Unfortunately, there’s no dependable route across the forest to the falls; you’ll need to backtrack to the Taggerty–Thornton Rd, swing onto the Goulburn Valley Hwy, then take Snobs Creek Rd and follow it for 7 km from the turn-off.

This campsite is located in Rubicon Valley Historic Area

Nestled within Rubicon State Forest, 150 km north-east of Melbourne, is the Rubicon Valley Historic Area. This 1470 ha area protects the historic remnants of a once thriving logging industry, including old wooden tramways and sawmills, as well as a still-operational hydro-electric scheme built on the cusp of the Great Depression. From Taggerty on the Maroondah Hwy, take the Taggerty–Thornton Rd and then Rubicon Rd.
