It was only a matter of time before passionate chef Adam Pizzini moved from the King Valley, bringing his Italian fare to appreciative diners in nearby Wangaratta. Yet, Pizzini’s mixed menu of modern Australian and traditional Italian dishes still reflects the valley’s four distinct seasons, working with quality local produce such as King Valley free-range goat, Milawa free-range chicken and duck, Black Range river trout, Welsh Black beef from neighbouring Myrrhee Valley, Milawa cheese and local honey. Adam grows much of his own fruit and vegetables including Italian herbs, radicchio and heritage tomatoes to ensure a constant fresh supply. His Dutch cream potato gnocchi – perhaps in beef or goat ragù – is a standout. Check the day’s specials for seasonal dishes.
