On the eastern shore of Lake Albacutya, accessible from either Rainbow township or the nearby community of Yaapeet, is the Yaapeet Beach camping area. Water is only sometimes available here, so it’s best to bring your own in. While a 4WD is needed for the rougher tracks in the park, a 2WD is adequate for reaching this campground.

This campsite is located in Lake Albacutya Park

Albacutya becomes an actual ‘lake’ only when floodwaters find their way here from the Wimmera River. Unfortunately, there’s been no water for over 25 years. But in lieu of the watersports enjoyed here when Albacutya is full, you can do plenty of vigorous walking, including over some sand dunes north of the lake. The park is 14 km north of Rainbow and accessed via the Hopetoun–Rainbow Rd.
