Wallpolla Island camping area (bush camping)
Overnight visitors to Wallpolla Island take advantage of the dispersed bush camping on offer to spread themselves out. You may see whistling kites on the hunt around the river. If you’re interested in fishing here, note that a Victorian licence will be required. The island is accessed via Old Mail Rd, which is only negotiable in dry weather. River access roads were due to be upgraded in 2012.

This campsite is located in Murray-Sunset National Park
Wedged up in the far north-western corner of Victoria, this is a gloriously isolated, undisturbed region of sand dunes, salt lakes and wide-open mallee country. At 677 000 ha it is one of the state’s biggest protected areas, and offers outback tracks suitable for a 4WD and bushwalking around the spectacular Pink Lakes. Access is off the Sturt Hwy and Millewa Rd from the north, the Calder Hwy in the east, and the Mallee Hwy in the south. A 4WD is needed for most of the park’s tracks.
