Western Beach is situated on the shoreline of Lake Albacutya amidst parrot-filled black box and river red gum woodlands. Stay here for a few days to enjoy the peace and quiet, or make it a stopover before visiting the fascinating semi-arid landscape of neighbouring Wyperfeld National Park. You can get here on sealed roads from Rainbow; turn off the Hopetoun–Rainbow Rd onto Albacutya Rd.

This campsite is located in Lake Albacutya Park

Albacutya becomes an actual ‘lake’ only when floodwaters find their way here from the Wimmera River. Unfortunately, there’s been no water for over 25 years. But in lieu of the watersports enjoyed here when Albacutya is full, you can do plenty of vigorous walking, including over some sand dunes north of the lake. The park is 14 km north of Rainbow and accessed via the Hopetoun–Rainbow Rd.
