You’ll find Wonga camping area on Main Entrance Rd after entering the national park from Yaapeet. A number of great walks start from here. Take the 4 km return Discovery Walk for an introduction to the mallee landscape; you can double your walking distance and head out to Lake Brambruk, crossing some sand dunes along the way. Day walkers should try the 13.5 km return option that tracks along Outlet Creek.

This campsite is located in Wyperfeld National Park

Etched into Wyperfeld’s vast open plains is a series of dry lakes connected by the equally dry Outlet Creek. When water does arrive in this wilderness, however, the desert flowers come out to greet it. Terrain is excellent for a 4WD or for mountain-biking on rough-cut tracks, and there are hundreds of birds to observe, including wedge-tailed eagles and Major Mitchell cockatoos. Patchewollock Rd in the east and the road heading up from Yaapeet in the south provide the main access.
