St Kilda Beach

St Kilda is far and away Melbourne’s favourite beach, always crowded on hot days. The beach itself is just somewhere to get wet; there are no waves, as is the case along all of Port Phillip’s beaches. It is more the location that is notable, with the iconic St Kilda Pier in the north, a favourite spot for a sunset stroll; the palm-lined foreshore with a walking path running all the way to Port Melbourne in the north and past Brighton in the south; and great food, coffee and ice cream just a short stroll away. South of St Kilda, Elwood Beach is a favourite with young families, while Brighton is famous for its colourful bathing boxes. Further still is pretty Half Moon Bay in Black Rock.
