It’s best to book at a place like this – they turned Mick Jagger away because they didn’t have a table free. France Soir has been serving reliably great French food with flair and panache for more than 20 years. The menu never changes, the frenetic pace rarely shifts gear and the French accents of the staff just get a tad thicker. The day’s specials are always worth considering and are written on a mirrored wall. There might be scallops in a beurre blanc with basil but many come here simply for the steaks – rib eye, Scotch and eye fillet, porterhouse or the steak frite with French fries and green salad (their signature). Traditional desserts are a treat.
