Melbourne has one of the biggest Greek populations outside of Greece, but before The Press Club came along, the city had to be content with the jolly but basic tavernas dotted throughout the suburbs. Big and bustling with smart modern lines, The Press Club adopts the taverna’s hospitable attitude but combines it with smart service and a generous, exciting, modern take on Greek food that includes both the basic (spit-roasted lamb) and the more exotic (cumin-roasted beetroot salad). Greek wine is a highlight of the lengthy list and there is a superb and eye-opening list of ouzo for those really wanting to get into the Greek spirit.
