For more than 15 years the Shakoor family has been treating appreciative locals to their terrific family-style Afghan cuisine. Dishes are designed to be shared so you can taste the wide variety of flavours on offer. Start with a selection of mixed entrées, including borani bonjon (golden-fried eggplant with garlic yoghurt and tomato sauce), munto (spiced mincemeat with onions wrapped in pastry and steamed) and sambosa (deep-fried curried vegetable pastry parcels). Then choose kabuli palow – a rice dish with caramelised carrots and sultanas – or aashok, a zesty pasta dish; both can also be served vegetarian. Kebabs, curries and rice dishes are house specialties.
