Cape Bridgewater

Australian and New Zealand fur seals can be seen sunning themselves from a specially constructed viewing platform on the cliffs of Cape Bridgewater, west of Portland. The walk to the platform is 2 hours return, and binoculars are recommended. Boat tours take visitors up-close and inside a cave that the seals have claimed as their own. Bookings are essential ((03) 5526 7247). While in the area, head to Portland’s Point Danger, where you will find Australia’s only mainland colony of beautiful, orange-headed Australasian gannets.
