Cape Otway Lightstation Reserve
Back to nature
Climb to the top of the oldest surviving lighthouse in mainland Australia. The lighthouse has operated continuously since 1848 and has a fascinating history of which maritime navigation is only a part. Visit the Telegraph Station and see the secret World War II Radar Bunker. If you visit between May and October, remember to keep an eye out for whales. The website is packed with useful material, including a kids’ activity pack to download. Accommodation is also available and there is a cafe in the Assistant Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage.
