The Great South West Walk passes straight through this serene picnic and camping area. To get here, follow the Portland–Nelson Rd for 22 km west of Portland and take the signposted turn-off north onto the T&W Rd. Head up the T&W Rd for just over 6 km and turn onto Cut Out Dam Rd. Surry Ridge is a further 3.6 km along Cut Out Dam Rd, 300 m south of the turn-off.

This campsite is located in Cobboboonee National Park

Cobboboonee is an attractive mixture of forests, heathlands and wetlands accessed from the Princes Hwy between Portland and Dartmoor. The area is a well-established favourite of hikers and horseriders. Walkers avail themselves of numerous tracks, including the Great South West Walk, which winds through the landscape between Portland and Nelson. Equestrians can explore the 60 km of trails that make up the Great Cobboboonee Horse Trail.
