Killarney Beach has grassy, sheltered campsites. There’s safe swimming here, while the surrounding rural region is notable for its peacefulness. A short drive east is Tower Hill Reserve, a shallow crater of an extinct volcano that now contains a lake and several islands linked by self-guided walks. Note: the caretaker of the camping reserve is resident only over summer.
