Grand Pacific Hotel

On the headland by the Lorne pier, this grand heritage building has been transported into the 21st century in fine style. The facade, the ornate balconies, the sandstone interior walls and the ocean views may have changed little from the building’s earliest days (c. 1870), but the 19 hotel rooms, from the doubles to the spa suites, have had fashionable makeovers. All rooms have queen- or king-size beds, TV and video. There is an open fire in a bar with enough groove to be at home in an inner-Melbourne laneway. There are also 15 one- to three-bedroom apartments available for overnight and week-long visits.
