The Surf Rider
This family-owned and operated restaurant offers relaxed casual dining some 200 metres from the beach, but the surf interest is actually inside. The surf-loving family has turned The Surf Rider into a quasi surfing museum with lots of local history, photos and surfing memorabilia. Dishes on the modern fusion menu are well executed. A typical entrée might be seared local scallops on grilled chorizo, dauphin potatoes, chilli jam and a sweet basil and rocket salad. A popular main course is twice-cooked honey and soy farm duck with pears, pink-eye potatoes, gingered bok choy and teriyaki sauce. And for dessert, hot Belgian chocolate soufflé with raspberry caramel and French vanilla ice-cream.
