Fairhaven Wye River and Kennett River

At the height of summer, the famous beaches along the eastern stretch of the Great Ocean Road are packed to the rafters; Lorne, especially, can seem as crowded as Bondi. Less crowded options include the hamlets of Wye and Kennett rivers, past Lorne, which both have patrolled beaches in summer. Fairhaven Beach starts after the Aireys Inlet lighthouse on Split Point. At 6 kilometres long, it is one of the longest beaches on the Great Ocean Road. The road above it also runs for its entire length, making it easy to access the beach at all sections (however, only an area near the lifesaving club is patrolled in summer). For surfers, it has a couple of good beach breaks.
