Little Swallow Cafe
A newcomer to the Piper Street scene is this little European-style cafe owned and run by Steve and Sarah Rogers, who both spent several years honing their culinary skills in Jacques Reymond’s celebrated Melbourne restaurant. Having lived in France, their aim is to bring southern Mediterranean flavours to the Victorian country through their warm and welcoming cafe. Start the day with a classic eggs Benedict, baked eggs or roasted field mushrooms with baby spinach and goat’s curd. For lunch, try the white bean salad with marinated anchovies, leek and gruyère tart or more substantial dishes such as braised lamb with Mount Zero olives on soft polenta. Sarah used to run Reymond’s pastry section, so be sure to check her range of cakes, tarts and homemade nougat.
