Star Anise Bistro
In a lovely old Victorian house with polished floorboards, dark wooden furniture, open fireplaces and an eclectic collection of chairs, this intimate 25-seater has a warm, European bistro feel. Using as much local, free-range, organic and seasonal produce as possible, the menu reflects Asian, Italian and Middle Eastern influences and ingredients. Popular entrées are seared scallops on fennel, apple and mint salad, or vegetarian spinach crepe pinwheels filled with roast pumpkin and drizzled with sage butter sauce. Main courses might include star-anise-spiced duck salad with roasted beets and orange and cherry dressing, or slow-cooked pork belly in soy, ginger and star anise served with scallops and chilli jam.
