Built in 1910, the two-storey hotel has been rendered and painted white with green detailing – entry being between two established oak trees and an imposing triple archway. Although the hotel’s restaurant has won numerous awards for its outstanding food, the upstairs accommodation is modest but stylish, with high pressed-metal ceilings, queen-size beds, coffee- and tea-making facilities and decor in fun colours. There are no ensuites, but rather three bathrooms down the hallway, so remember to bring your own bathrobe. Dinner, bed and breakfast packages are available.
