A one-time cattle-grazing area set within the pretty Yarra Valley Parklands, the turf at Longridge can now be booked through Parks Victoria (by phone or online) by individuals or groups of up to 40 for relaxing camping stints. Go swimming and canoeing in the river, and at night keep an eye out for powerful owls and eastern free-tail bats.

Located in Warrandyte on flat ground between the Yarra River and the adjacent slopes, Longridge Park is a great place to go birdwatching and fishing, or to meet and greet the local eastern grey kangaroos. Its spacious environs are perfect for large groups who want room to play. Access is via Warrandyte Rd – more specific directions will be provided by Parks Victoria once the obligatory booking is made.
