Miss Marple’s Tea Room
In nearby Sassafras, this ever-bustling tearoom in an English Tudor-style cottage is evidence that the Devonshire tea tradition is alive and well in the Dandenongs. Visit the Tea Leaves shop next door for an incredible range of teas and teapots while you inevitably wait for a table. Fresh scones with homemade raspberry jam are hard to beat, and are one reason for the large crowds. For more substantial fare, choose from traditional dishes such as hearty chicken or beef cottage pie, ploughman’s lunch, quiche Lorraine, English-style fish and chips or a Pimlico pastie. Serves are large, so come with an appetite. Be warned: ice-cream sundaes are massive; the bread and butter pudding is sheer comfort food. There are also gluten‑free options.
