Tranby House

Just beyond East Perth in the suburb of Maylands is historic Tranby House. Built in 1839 overlooking the picturesque Swan River, Tranby is one of the oldest surviving buildings from the early settlement of the Swan River Colony and is a unique example of colonial farmhouse architecture. A major attraction is the property’s gardens which feature two century-old oak trees. The house has been beautifully restored by the National Trust. Johnson Rd, Maylands; (08) 9272 2630; open 10am–4pm Tue–Sun (closed 24 Dec–6 Feb).
