Niagara Dam camping area
Campsite
Niagara Dam camping area is 60 km north-east of Menzies via the Goldfields Hwy and Kookynie Rd. An oasis in the outback, it embraces a large shady area among the trees on the edge of the dam. Visitors can explore the surrounding bush or swim and fish the waters of the dam, which was built to water the steam trains that serviced the nearby historic town of Kookynie. Today Kookynie is a living ghost town, and not to be missed if you are visiting the northern Goldfields region. Note that baits are laid in this area, so keep your dog on a lead. Bring in your own firewood and drinking water.
