Gantheaume Point

South of Broome, Cable Beach ends at Gantheaume Point. Suddenly the sand is red instead of white, and the shore is scattered with shards of sandstone. The water at Gantheaume Point, though, is the same brilliant turquoise, and when the tide is low, the footprints of a 120-million-year- old dinosaur are revealed. As it is rare to arrive in perfect conditions, a plaster cast of the tracks has been embedded at the top of the cliff. Also look for the small pool in the rocks known as Anastasias Pool, built by a former lighthouse keeper for his arthritic wife.
