Dugong tours, Shark Bay

Over 10 000 dugongs live in Shark Bay Marine Park – more than anywhere else in the world. Despite being marine mammals, they are more closely related to elephants than to dolphins or whales. They grow to 3 metres in length and can weigh over 400 kilograms. They are nicknamed ‘sea cows’ because they graze on seagrass instead of eating fish. Various tours take you to meet these remarkable creatures.
